LED-COMMISSIONED REPORT SHOWS SIGNIFICANT GROWTH IN LOUISIANA'S FILM INDUSTRY

Increase is a result of aggressive film incentives

A recent report on Louisiana's entertainment industry, Economics Research Associates Report: Trends in Film, Music and Digital Media, shows significant growth, particularly in film. Louisiana Economic Development (LED) retained Economics Research Associates to evaluate current film and music industry trends, the impact of the state's film incentive program and the prospects for moving Louisiana's film and music industries forward.

The report shows a sizeable increase in film production, a 23 percent increase in employment and 31 percent higher wages since 2001. The study also revealed Louisiana ranks third in the number of films produced in the United States -- a result of the state's successful incentives programs geared to the industry.

For the full report and a one-page summary of findings, visit LED's website at LouisianaForward.com/Entertainment. LED's Entertainment Industry Division plans to coordinate town hall style regional meetings that provide context to the report findings and how the report can be used as a resource locally.

The entertainment industry will also be the focus of a break-out session during the Governor's Conference on Economic Development, April 11 - 12 at the Baton Rouge River Center. To sign up for the conference, click here.
